The $388,397 grant will support a variety of activities related to handling hazardous waste in the state.

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has awarded $388,397 to the Arkansas Department of Environmental Quality to support programs that manage and reduce hazardous waste.

“Controlling Haz Waste is one of the most effective ways to prevent potential problems and protect communities and the environment,” says EPA Regional Administrator Ken McQueen. “Arkansas remains a strong partner in carrying out this vital mission.”

This grant will support a variety of activities within Arkansas’s Haz Waste management program, EPA says. These include controlling the generation, transportation, treatment, storage and disposal of waste; minimizing hazardous waste production; and protecting public health and the environment from inactive facilities. The funding will also support permitting, corrective action, inspections, enforcement, tracking and pollution-prevention outreach.

EPA regulations call for “cradle-to-grave” management of hazardous waste, meaning these materials must be tracked and properly handled from the time they are created until they are permanently disposed of. Improperly managed hazardous waste poses a serious threat to human health and the environment, EPA says. The Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA), passed in 1976, was established to set up a framework for the proper management of hazardous waste.

IMEC Technologies provides Safety Management Software to increase worker safety and aid compliance. IMEC’s Safety Management Software will manage inspections and audits, provides hazard identificationincident reporting and management of corrective and preventative actions from generation to closure. The Mobile Inspection App allow users to perform inspections and audits, for example the system can be used as a barcode fire inspection software solution to manage fire safety and to record safety observations and manage corrective actions, anywhere and anytime. The Incident Reporting App allows users to easily and quickly report incidents, hazards and near-misses, these are then sent to the appropriate people for action and are managed to closure.  Web Apps provide features such as, setup, management, scheduling tools, analysis, reporting and dashboards etc with the ability to report incidents to government bodies such as OSHA and RIDDORHazMat T&T is a hazardous waste management software solution designed for Environmental Service Companies and companies who generate a large quantity of hazardous waste.
