The Environmental Protection Agency in Illinois has released the schedule for the collection of household hazardous waste for the Spring.
10 collection sites have been confirmed with a number more in the pipeline. Collection events focusing on hazardous waste have the effect of encouraging residents to dispose of unused or leftover household items, such as chemicals, weed killers, paints, paint thinners, oil, and oily rags etc. EPA Director John Kim commented that this program is one of the most popular programs the agency runs and always has a large take-up.
The program ensures that items that are categorized as hazardous waste can be safely disposed of by households, protecting the environment.
Companies as part of their corporate social responsibility(CSR) will sponsor these collection events to show a commitment to environmental protection.
