Irish Central Statistics Office implements Consumer Price Index Data Collection system from IMEC
The Irish Central Statistics Office gathers retail price information from thousands of outlets in Ireland on a monthly basis. This data is then used as the basis for calculating the Consumer Price Index, a key statistic used by the Irish Government and other sources to monitor the Irish economy.
IMEC won a tender process to design, specify, develop and implement a system using mobile computers that would collect, manage and communciate the retail price data on a monthly basis using the approximately 100 mobile computers with the workers who gather this data each month.
The benefits for the Central Statistics Office are that the data can be collected at a retail outlet and uploaded immediately, the use of pricing books to manually record the pricing data is eliminated, there is no need to perform vast amounts of data entry with the obvious risk of transcription errors and the data is collected, stored and transmitted under encryption to enhance security.

Royal Shrewsbury & Telford NHS Trust implement HazMat T&T - Waste Management Software
The Royal Shrewsbury and Telford NHS Trust which is an NHS Acute hospital in the UK implemented HazMat T&T, a hazardous waste tracking solution from IMEC. The need to provide accurate and up-to-date knowledge about the clinical waste created and disposed of from the site lead to the installation and implementation of Hazmat T&T.
Any waste produced by the hospital is tracked from the point of creation to the point of disposal. A comprehensive audit trail is produced of all waste movements which is accessible to all of the waste management staff.
The resulting benefits include reduced costs, increased confidence in the waste management and disposal process, the ability to perform departmental budgeting which drives cost reduction, the production of all shipping documentation required to ship clinical waste on the public road in the UK to aid compliance and a full electronic audit trail which can be used to demonstrate compliance to regulatory authorities.

Thermoking - Ingersoll Rand - Implement RFID based replenishment application from IMEC
IMEC Technologies implemented a just-in-time parts replenishment solution to Thermoking, Ingersoll Rand who manufacturer transport temperature control systems for the transport industry, to improve efficiency at its major manufacturing facility in Ireland.
A solution using Wi-Fi-based Active RFID tags was implemented to optimize efficiency at the manufacturing facility. These tags use standard Wi-Fi and leverage the facility’s existing Cisco Unified Wireless Network, when additional parts are needed, workers at the facility use the call buttons integrated into the tags to wirelessly signal for parts replenishment and raise a flag in the system for reorder. IMEC integrated AeroScout’s MobileView 4.0 software with the internal logistics software and a parts replenishment system developed by IMEC, so that calls from the tags would create work orders in the system for parts replenishment.
The RFID solution enabled the company to improve productivity, reduce the inventory of components on the production floor and make more efficient use of the production space available. The system has been implemented in a manner that other applications in other areas in this plant or other plants in the group can easily be added in the future, there are plans to further increase the efficiency with additional visibility applications, such as tracking the location of mobile work in progress storage units between various facilities.
